Jessica Alba, born in Pomona, California on April 29, 1981, is an American actress. Her early life was plagued by diseases, including collapsed lungs, pneumonia, as well as suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Her health recovered in the later years.
Jessica thought of professional acting since her early childhood, when at 11 she convinced her parents to let her take part in a Beverly Hill acting competition where she claimed grand prize. The win has secured free acting classes for her, with a first minor role coming in a 1994 flick Camp Nowhere. During her growth period, she got involved in advertisement gigs for Nintendo and J.C. Penney.
Jessica’s professional career continued on television, with roles in an episode of Brooklyn South, two episodes of Beverly Hills 90210, The Love Boat, P.U.N.K.S. and others. She got a break in Hollywood with roles in a comedy "Never Been Kissed", starring alongside Drew Barrymore, and a lead role in "Idle Hands". She was further selected to be the main character on FOX’s TV series Dark Angel, earning her a Golden Globe Nomination.
She was acclaimed for her acting in Hollywood hits Honey, Sin City, and the Fantastic Four. She was nominated for Golden Globe Award for her role in Dark Angel, and was subsequently a winner of ALMA Awards as a Breakthrough Actress in the Year, Young Hollywood Award as Superstar of Tomorrow, and Spike TV Guys’ Choice Awards as Hottest Jessica. Askmen.com rated Jessica as second overall after Lindsay Lohan in 2007.
